About the event
How does a museum exhibition come together? How do curators discover artists, select work, and shape a show? And how does artwork find its way into a museum collection?
Join SOLA for a special Community Call with Greg Robinson, Cynthia Sears Chief Curator of Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA), and on the Curatorial Committee for Decades in the Making: Ten Years of SOLA Awardees, currently on view at Tacoma Art Museum.
Using Decades in the Making as a jumping-off point, Greg will take us behind the scenes of the curatorial process—from developing an exhibition and selecting artists and artwork to the ways museums discover artists and build their collections.
For artists, it’s a chance to better understand a process that can often feel mysterious: What happens behind the scenes? What are curators looking for? How do museums encounter new work? And what can artists learn from the process of putting together…
